2014 Camp Vega Uniform Catalog & Why Uniforms are the Best!

Dear Vega,

It is that time of year when summer camp uniform catalogs are sent out.  We mailed our 2014 catalog to current families earlier this week.  This means camp is getting closer!

We are proud to continue the Vega tradition of being a uniform camp.  A uniform environment at camp helps:

  • Instill a sense of community and spirit of teamwork
  • Make it easier and faster for campers and staff to get dressed
  • Reduce materialism
  • Improve on-campus and trip security

At Vega, it doesn’t matter what you look like, and girls are never judged for what they wear – because everyone is wearing the same thing.  This kind of relaxed and noncompetitive environment is different than most girls’ day-to-day experience outside camp.  We credit it for helping Vega be that special place where girls can truly be themselves because no one is worried about outward appearances.

Having a uniform at summer camp also makes day-to-day living easy.  Vega’s approach to clothing for both campers and staff is summed up this way:  “They get up.  They put their green shorts on.  They put their white shirt on.  And they’re out!”  We are proud to be Green and White for 77 years!

Can you think of any other benefits?  What’s you’re favorite thing about having a uniform at Camp Vega?  Please comment – we’d love to hear from you!
