A Vega Values Weekend

The weekend of April 27th & 28th, 2019, we had two wonderful opportunities to fulfill our mission of living by the Vega Values of Unity, Integrity, Gratitude, Empathy and Believing in Ourselves.  On Saturday we welcomed new members of the Vega family at the new camper get together, and Sunday walked in support of finding a cure for those living with MS.

The get together was filled with excitement and happy faces as we welcomed over 35 new campers and several of Vega’s oldest campers, Tamary, for a fun afternoon. We introduced some fun camp activities like Sunset Circle songs, making bracelets and smoothies, running through a mock ropes course and learning how to play jacks! Our photo wall was a great place for fun polaroids of the girls to take home and remember the day. The Tamary campers answered lots of questions and taught the younger campers about some key Vega traditions, Dining Hall cheers and much more.  It was a great way to kick off the season which is right around the corner!

Adding to our weekend, Camp Vega helped raise over $11,000 dollars for MS research (!!) and walked in the NYC Walk MS with Michelle Tolson, our Marketing and Communications Director and Head of Performing Arts. The rain held off and we did the walk with over 4,000 people on Sunday, April 28th.

We had a wonderful turnout of parents, campers and counselors that walked in support of Michelle and finding a cure for MS. We are so proud of Michelle, who also happened to be the opening speaker for the walk! Thank you to the many families who donated and supported Michelle with her fundraising goal. Because of all of you we were a Top Team ranking in the top 20 out of over 300 teams!

We are so excited for Opening Day 2019 and couldn’t think of a better way to start our season.
