Hi! My name is Karem Colindres. This will be my first year at Camp Vega, and my first visit to Maine . I am so excited to be a part of such a wonderful camp and team. Growing up in Texas as a child and teenager, I always wanted to attend and participate in a summer camp. However, I was not able to have such an opportunity.
I am originally from Honduras, born to two immigrant parents looking for a better opportunity for themselves, myself, and my younger sister. I joined the U.S Army upon graduating high school in 1996 to help me realize my dream of becoming a physician. Through the financial incentive, I had enough money to get myself an associates degree in Virginia and enroll at my university of choice, Baylor University in Waco, Texas. I proceeded to medical school where I met a dear friend from Maine, and since then, Maine has been on my “places I need to visit” list which is soon to be checked off the list! I then completed my general pediatric residency at the University of Miami/Holtz Children’s Hospital in Miami, Florida. My love for procedures and the acute care setting, led me to complete a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship in Phoenix. Arizona, where I presently reside with my two beautiful daughters and our loving miniature poodles and our rescued chihuahua. I am really excited, and looking forward in working at the health center as one of the healthcare providers. I am finally going to be able to say that I have been to Maine!!
I’m Melanie Lessard, I will be a camp nurse and my 9 year old twin daughters will be campers at Vega this year. We are very excited!
I have been a Registered Nurse for 21 years and have a lot of different work experience, most recently as a school nurse in Waterbury, CT. I am from Fayette, ME and used to ride my bike by Camp Vega as a teen and imagine how wonderful it must be to attend such a place. Dreams do come true! I look forward to our Summer adventure.
Hi my name is Joy Enneking. I have been a Pediatric nurse for 11 years and I love it. I was also a personal trainer specializing in rehab for 10 years prior and I loved that too. I am a mother of 3 children with 2 adorable grandchildren. I was raised on the Jersey Shore and moved to Texas in 1981. I love the people here but the weather can get a little unbearable for a short period of time. I enjoy being active outdoors yet I have a creative side for indoor fun. My life motto is “Do your Have To’s before your Want To’s and be grateful you have the opportunity and the ability to do them”. Live Positive.
Hello Camp Vega! My name is Mariah, and I am a Nurse from South Carolina. I love to travel, have new adventures, meet new friends and gain new experiences. That means I am super excited to be spending the summer with all of you at camp! I am really looking forward to working with the Health Clinic team in the hopes that everyone will have a fun, safe, and healthy summer experience!
