Music with a Message

Last night  Camp Vega hosted the Bronx-based Music With A Message Band, and boy did they bring down the house!

After a full day of trips and activities, including Outdoor Adventure’s trip to the aquarium, a tennis tournament in Portland AND a cookout, the evening Maine air was filled with songs that deliver powerful messages and promote positivity. This 25 group band sings soulful renditions of classic songs and original songs that emphasize issues facing today’s youth, such as gun violence, asthma and homelessness. Tonight’s message was all about kindness. “We believe kindness is a culture,” said Mr. Bervin Harris, co-founder of the Renaissance Youth Center and MWAM director. It’s safe to say there was plenty of singing, dancing and kindness to go around (campers and counselors alike!). We’re sure that after last night’s show, the campers got a full night’s sleep because guess what today is…beach day!!!
