What have we been up to for 2022?

Hello Vega!!

It’s 2022 and we have a range of exciting updates for you! Let’s dive right in…

Back in 2019 we announced plans for a camper/staff alumni reunion at Vega, which was slated to take place after camp the following year. After a two year delay, it’s official: 2022 is the year – Labor Day Weekend Vega Reunion!!!! A special thanks to our alum organizers, Jennifer Kraft and Alyson Lee, for your time and patience over the past three years. All the details can be found here: Camp Vega Reunion 2022 Registration.

Meanwhile, we have been busy getting ready for 2022 since the end of last summer!

Kyle and Leigh have been hard at work recruiting and rehiring staff, and making sure everyone is prepared and excited. The 2022 Staff is incredible and the countdown to camp is on! We couldn’t wait any longer and decided to invite the 2022 Leadership Team to a Fun and Games Zoom this weekend. We’ll make sure to share some pics on Vega’s Facebook and Instagram 🙂

Michelle, Vega’s Social Media Manager, has also been helping keep the Vega website up-to-date, including the 2022 Meet the Staff bios. She’s also been teaching dance at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC, and we love the days Michelle commutes from Brooklyn to the Vega office in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

Emily and Brittany have been working together on camper forms, Camp Big/Little Sisters, and other ways we bring the community together before and during camp, such as the New Camper Questionnaires, and Age-Group Zooms. Thank you also to Brittany for organizing the upcoming get-together in Florida on Feb. 19th. We’re so excited to see many of our FL families, have fun and give back! We’ll make sure to share pics from the get-together too 🙂

The program office is welcoming two new directors, Sofie (from tennis) and Quito (yes, Quito, also from tennis), as Sandy Harris has decided to spend more time with her amazing family, all of whom live in Utah.  Sandy and Kyle have been preparing since last summer for a smooth transition and to make Vega ’22 amazing! 20 years…we will miss the Sandy and her family very much and are so incredibly grateful for their love and friendship.

We also recently emailed all camp families letting them know that they will no longer see towels on the packing list! That’s right – we are happy to share that we’ve decided to provide (thousands of) towels for everyone throughout camp and especially down at Echo Lake.  This will certainly make packing much easier for everyone and know that everyone will enjoy more space in their closets and in their bunks.

We are looking forward to warmer (and more exciting) days with everyone this summer!

Meanwhile, the facilities team up at camp (Scott, Tiger, and Jaidyn) have been busy with a variety of projects.  In addition to an impressive amount of smaller renovations and improvement projects, they have built a new staff apartment, a new walkway and patio between The White House and Dining Hall, upgraded the electrical wiring throughout Senior Camp, added more (outdoor) showers on Sugarkat Hill (!!), and will soon begin another round of substantial renovations and improvements to the Lodge.

The Countdown for Vega 2022 is on!!  We are growing more excited with each passing day as we strive to make this summer the best yet!

With love,

Kyle and Emily
