Winter Sports at Summer Camp – Meet the Staff!

Dear Vegans,

Girls Summer Camp Ice SkatingWinter is in full swing, which means that here in the office and up at camp we are all seriously gearing up for summer.  It is hard to think of summer camp when skiing or snowboarding, but maybe not when you are ice skating or figure skating!  Vega is so lucky to have a beautiful ice arena 5 miles away at the Kents Hill School.  We have been developing our ice-skating program for about 10 years, and we are proud to have some notable alumnae skating accomplishments like Katie Orlin representing the United States at the World Junior Synchronized Skating Championships in Croatia last year.

As we always say, the most important aspect of any summer camp is the people – campers and counselors alike.  We have been receiving some wonderful staff applications and we are happy to welcome one notable addition to the Vega family, who is heading up our summer camp figure skating program.  Lisa Frenzel, whose most notable competitive achievement may have been winning the 1999 US Figure Skating Championships in Championship Figures!  She currently coaches USFS competitors in Vail and Breckenridge and is a Professional Skaters Association Senior Rated Freestyle coach.  Lisa is excited to help take Vega’s summer skating program to the next level, and we are too!

We will let you know when we begin posting bios from our 2016 staff team on the Meet the Staff page of our site as the winter progresses, so you can see who is returning and get to know as many counselors and coaches prior to camp as possible.  That is it until next time!

Tons of love,

Kyle & Emily
