Making Strides – Breast Cancer Walk

Dear Friends,

For the past nine years I have been a participant in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in Boston.  My team co-captain, Candace, a longtime friend and breast cancer survivor, encouraged me to be a supporter in 2005 and sponsor, and each year I mark my calendar to not miss this very worthy fundraiser.

This year, the Walk has a very special meaning for me.  I was diagnosed with breast cancer last December after my annual mammogram.  I was very fortunate to have the support of my team captain, Candace, who accompanied me on my initial visit of consultation with the surgeon, the surgery, and follow up treatments.

I am thankful to all of my family and friends who supported me during the treatment phases.  My heartfelt gratitude is also extended to the extraordinary team of medical staff at the Breast Center of Boston’s Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

Now, as a Co-Captain and Team Sponsor, I am thankful to say that I am a breast cancer survivor with an even deeper commitment to helping the American Cancer Society raise money to find a cure and end this disease tomorrow.

Please join Candace’s and my team, Camp Vega and Duxbury Divas, on Sunday, October 6th, in a 3 – 5 mile walk.  Our team is meeting at 9:00 a.m. sharp at the Hatch Shell.  Boston Common Garage is ideal for parking.

If you cannot make the Walk, you may just donate to our team by clicking here.  If you wish to receive a shirt, please contact my Facebook Page.  Your silver colored 2013 shirt, which will have the Camp Vega and Making Strides Against Cancer will be printed on back.  I am adding the original name of my founding team, Duxbury Divas.  Please note that the long sleeved shirts are 100% cotton and not pre-washed.

Your friends and any age family members are also welcome!

Best Wishes,

Linda
