On #GivingTuesday, November 28th, 2017, Camp Vega campers, administrators and parents convened as “Team Camp Vega” at the Food Bank for Westchester, to take part in their Community Scoop-A-Thon. The premise of the event is for teams to compete against each other by trying to pack the most amount of food in 45 minutes. This year the teams were packing bags of apples that the Food Bank will distribute as part of their Senior Grocery Program.
Vega’s ten person team was comprised of Vega campers, administrators and parents. It was a fun and face-paced race against the clock! In 45 minutes, “Team Vega” packed over 1,500 pounds of apples! Overall, participants at the event packed 19,980 pounds!
Thank you to everyone who came out and to the Food Bank for a great event and all they do. It was so much fun to catch up and work together with campers and their families while giving back to our local community.
